Ash Cloud and Flying  email this discussion to a friend?

Dangey2009 (25) 2 years ago

Just thought I'd start a discussion on the ongoing travel chaos that has hit our airline industry over the last few weeks with the volcanic ash cloud. I know as far as I am concerned I'm not worried about flying still? How does everyone else feel about it?

I don't fly much as we own a motorhome, however, I will respect the grounding of aircraft. There were several instances of ash creating problems with aircraft during Mt St Helens. The ash ever impacted ground vehicles. There are many article that prove the theory of ash damaging not only aircraft and ground vehicles, but our lungs also. The ash is actually minute piece of glass and will cut our lungs. The heat of jet engines melts the glass. Does anyone else know more scientific explanations?
