I think my dog has fleas  email this discussion to a friend?

For those of you with dogs, what flea treatments have you tried? Our dog has been scratching a lot for the last few days and I feel bad for her. She looks so uncomfortable and miserable.

Do flea colors work? What about pills? What about lotions? I was reading about frontline ( http://www.frontlinefordogs.org/ ) and I was wondering if that's worth trying.

Should I take her to a vet? Is it contagious?

Once I get this under control, what steps should I take to prevent it in the future?

Thanks!

I suggest that you find a good dog shampoo. For me it's the one that works best.

Then clean the area where your dog has been especially the place where he sleeps.

I'm no expert but I think using flea shampoo on your dog every two weeks would get rid of those pesky pests.

Don't forget to give him a bath everyday too.

Hi fhalter, When I had a dog I used Frontline and never had a problem with fleas. I would also use an anti flea shampoo on him too about once a fortnight. If you have soft furnishings and carpet in the house I would suggest a spray for them too to get rid of and keep rid of. Ellie :)
