Dress code is very important???  

Dress code maybe important for some companies. Whereas others do not subscribe to the formal dress code.It all depends on the company.Present yourself in a self confident matter highlighting your skills rather than being bothered about the dress code.For some companies formal dress code is important but not for all.

Dress code is very important these days. There were days when people were in free zone when any dress could be managed but these days as the life style has changed we also should accordingly change our dress code and should be perfect according to the situations.
The first impression while attending an interview falls only on the dress code which proves how the candidate is ............

I think its important to look smart at an interview even if they dont say there is a dress code, I have seen some people getting interviewed at my workplace and have seen managers walk past and joke about how scruffy they look and how they cannot seriously want a job, my manager actually thought that someone was trying to mess up the interview on purpose! So I always try to look smart, bosses will always be impressed that you have made the effort.

It is important to some extent but I think companies prefer people who are highly qualified for the job over those who are well dressed. Sorry if I offended you with that but what I mean is that with the level of competition right now, companies would definitely go for skills and capabilities (and sometimes who they want). I'm working in a technical field and I can really attest to that. Employers really don't care a lot about the get up (depending on the job) and they go for the skills. I used to dress up in a proper attire before in going for an interview but later on realized that a lot of companies really no longer mind (to some extent). Going for an interview wearing a plain white shirt, a pair of jeans, and a pair of sneakers would already suffice. However, there are some companies or job descriptions that really require a dress code. Business related jobs for example really require applicants to come in with business attires. It really depends actually and I think it's always safe and better to go to job interviews in proper dress code. Though it seems that it's no longer a factor, for a lot of employers or interviewers, it still matters a lot. It's definitely a big plus on your part.

Dress code is really important in an office environment, the looks also matters when we go for an interview, if dress casually you are disqualified right at that moment ..
