World War 3? |

| http://abcnews.go.com/Int... A North Korean torpedo was responsible for the March 26 sinking of a South Korean navy ship and the deaths of 46 sailors aboard, South Korean officials said. S.Korea minister blames North for warship sinking Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan said today it was "obvious" that the North Koreans sank the Cheonan warship as it sailed near the disputed water between the two Koreas. Officials in Seoul and Washington told ABC News that the South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak is preparing a statement for early next week that will officially blame the North and inevitably ratchet up tensions in the region. Until now, South Korea has been careful about apportioning blame to the North without substantial evidence. Pyongyang has repeatedly denied any involvement in the sinking. The smoking gun is a propeller that presumably powered the torpedo which a pair of South Korean fishing boats found at the bottom of the ocean last weekend. The propeller itself was in a "relatively fine condition," reported Chosun Ilbo, South Korea's largest daily newspaper. A team of investigators from Australia, Britain, Sweden, and the United States have concluded after deciphering the serial number engraved on the propeller that the font and the engraving technique is in North Korean style. The team has been analyzing the recovered parts of the wrecked Cheonan navy vessel at Pyongtaek port, 42 miles southwest of Seoul. They are to submit an official report on Thursday. Also expected to be included in this report is the analysis of traces of explosives recovered from the damaged vessel and pieces of the suspected torpedo. The South Korean press has been reporting for the past few weeks that the traces of explosives have an identical chemical make-up to the substances found in a stray North Korean torpedo which the South seized in 2003. "The whole thing is like James Bond," said one U.S. official who confirmed to ABC News that the U.S. has a picture of the pieces from the North Korean torpedo recovered from the bottom of the ocean. President Lee and U.S. President Barack Obama agreed during a 25-minute telephone conversation Tuesday that both countries will work to impose stronger sanctions against North Korea immediately after the official announcement is made. Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada told his South Korean counterpart on Monday that Japan is also on board to pressure North Korea. So, if North Korea is responsible, will Obama take the swift action he promised? Who will bomb who? and what do you think the outcome will be? Is this just what the economy needed? | | | | | |

| | Well Let's see. The answer to that is NOTHING. Obama will give a strongly worded message to North Korea. That's it. It's not what he should do mind you, but it's all. Kinda makes you will Ronnie Reagan was still president huh? | | | | | | |

| | Boy Max, you sure do have a way with words! I agree but I am not sure if they will act without our fearful leaders go ahead. I am losing faith daily, not in our military but in our country in general. | | | |

| | I think if it had been confirmed immediately after the attack South Korea would have responded with a counter strike. I don't think anything is going to happen now though. I'm with mike....a strongly worded reprimand and some begging the UN security council to impose more useless sanctions and hemming and hawing. North Korea is pretty well contained anyway. Despite one of the largest militaries on earth...it is not very technically advanced, the don't have an effective delivery system for their nuclear weapons and all the power is centralized and confined to Kim Jong Il and some top military leaders, we can take those guys out any time we want really. | | | | | | |

| | Taking them down should be done only when there are more peaceful people ready to replace them. Without it, worse people will make it worse. NK will be more determined in producing their nukes. | | | |

| | I would hope that the U.S. stays out of it. Let North and South Korea deal with their own problem. We have enough on our plates already. | | | | | | |

| | Thank you for your response. I do worry though if N Korea hurts S Korea, then turns on us. Or how about Russia, China, Iran all jumping in. Do you think we will be left alone? | | | |

| | Personally I think North Korea won't be a cause of the WW III. China, the only big commy country in the world, after its emergence, had never enjoyed anything fancy. It produced good things and sold it abroad, and consumed the bad ones. Typical chinese, I can say. (Btw, not to get anyone flaming me, I am one.) Today's China's economic growth was never thought of by anyone, and I don't think China will let a WW III take away what it's enjoying now. The only thing Obama will do, I think, is to use what's known as diplomacy. There will never be a military action ( and I think Iran knew it, it was why its president had the nerve to laugh at Obama). From the little I read on him, somehow I feel that this is not a man of action. Obama seems to be of the same kind with the president we have here. Diplomats, relying on words only. When Malaysian ships entered our waters, the president (ours) sent someone to talk to Malaysia, and didn't allow our ships to fire. They were told only to follow and monitor. So it was how it was done. Malaysian ships kept on entering our waters and our ships chased them only to watch them from afar, in the end. lol. I think they're the kind who will hit back physically only when they see a speeding bullet. As for the economy, I don't think it's ok for the US to run another war at this time, as it will slow down the recovery. This is boring to hear, but really, our economy depends so much on US. I don't know how it could be like this, but whatever happened to the US, we're hit, too. It's both good and bad news for us. It's good as if the US wanted to make us an ally, the US would try to change us, and we finally would get more freedom. The bad news is, I don't see Obama's administration will do it. Just some to explain how I see the connection of both nations, the US and Indonesia. | | | | | | |

| | Money just keeps stacking up whether it's in war or peace, as well as debts... It's such a shame that human advances don't match with spiritual. I really just find it confusing why North Korea stays the way they are..what a shame that some people can't really enjoy peace and appreciate it..I believe it's time for us to think not for ourselves... | | | | | | |
