How do you share files from one desktop to another?  

I don't think that cable to connect it to other computers like in DSL would be the best to share ALL your files to another computer. I mean I can't think of a cable that could actually do that. We have 3 computer at home and We usually use our USB to do it. a USB that is 8gb ir more if you have a lot of files.

He you want two or more PCs connected then you must use a LAN cable connection. This would be permanent. If you are a computer savvy you may do it yourself or best thing to do is to call in an expert to do it.

I would use an Ethernet cable. There cheap, and very easy to use, and set up.

Just plug in the cable to both computers, then click on control panel on the computer, and then click network and internet connections. Then click "set up or change your home or small office network". Go through the wizard, and set up the network on the host computer. You will need to do the same set up on the other computer. When it asks to set a connection method, choose the second option. You can name the computer and workgroup whatever you want. When it says "you're almost done", choose just finish the wizard. Then click finish, when you get to the end. Now restart the computers, then your done with this part.

Then create a new folder. Right click this folder, then click on the sharing tab. Check the box "share this folder on the network", then type in a share name, then click OK. The folder should now be visible on the network between the computers. To view the folder on the other computer, click start, my network places, then view workgroup computers.

You can place any items you want to put on the other computer, in this folder.

If you want to share all the files on the computer, with the other computer, you can always mount the drive of your computer, in the shared folder. If you want to know about this just ask and I will explain.

You can use the LAN...

If you already shared your desktop PC on your DSL connection. The 2 PC should see each other. Or, just follow the simple steps below for you to copy files from your PC to another PC.

1. If the 2 PC are already connected on the router, they should have different IP add. Just check the IP of each computer by running run>cmd>ipconfig

2. Just share the folder (Target Folder) you want to share on another PC. right click the folder then sharing..

3. Just type the IP address of Target PC (with shared folder) on run (type this on source PC). See below : Type this on Source PC

\\192.168.xxx.x

After you enter, you will see the Share folder. Then you can copy files there.

4. You can do it also in vice versa.

you can make it like cable internet connection.. same way.. yuo can access to other computer through the network neighborhood

All you need is a Network Switch/Hub and some cables and you will be all set. Go to geeks.com and search for a network switch. find a cheap one (they are under $10) and then look for some Ethernet cables. Search for Patch Ethernet Cables and you will find some nice cables for under $5 that will work.

Once you have everything, plug each computer with an Ethernet Cable into the Network Switch. Then plug the cable from your DSL connection into the Network Switch and the internet and files will be shared! There may also be some file sharing setting in the actual computers if you want to share files. If you need help with that just ask!

i usually do with the lan cable or with my pen drive. Normally i do it with Lan cable as it is much faster than other things. no doubt its a great invention in the field of computer.

You have to buy a network cable. There are alot of network cable available in computer retail store that are ready to use. Connect the one network cable into your router and the other cable into other computer. Try to configure the ip address of 2 computers. If you don't know how to configure it, google it in the internet.
