How old were you the first time you travel? |
| |
| I had gone on vacations when I was little. Our uncle had a va and we all jumped in with sandwichs for the trip. The trip was long mainly because the roads were pitiful in those days. But my first real trip was when I was 11 years old. I took a place for the first time in my life to go from Chile, my country, to the north of the United States. My father had a fellowship to work in science and we all went with him as it was for one year and a half. Since then I have traveled in planes many times. And for a long time they have just been a means of transportation for me. But then is was awesome. It was thrilling and scary at the same time. It took us ages to reach our destiny. The trip to Miami alone took about a day. Now its done in half that time. But then the planes were spacious, the food was exquisite and they even had toys and games for us, kids. Do you have memories of the first time you went to an adventure in another place? Did you have fun? Share! | | | | | |

| | I was three years old when I first traveled to an island for holidays with my family, and I cannot say if it was wonderful because I barely remember what happened exactly so I think it was good enough. Now this year I am planning to fly with my boyfriend for a summer vacation. | | | | | | |

| | I hope your vacation is wonderful. I love to travel and we tried to save money with my husband to go somewhere when we could. So maybe you should count this trip as your first travel. | | | |

| | I think I was three years when my father got a job in Oman. I had small memories of what I did there. All we did was travelling to the desert a lot. | | | | | | |

| | i HAVE NEVER FLOWN AS U KNOW. WHEN I WAS ABOUT 10 I GUESS MY PARENTS TOOK MY SISTER & I TO THE SMOKEY MOUNTAIN. iT WAS A LONG DRIVE & I HAVE NEVER TRAVELED TOO WELL. tHE highlight of the trip to me was we went to an outside play that was about the american indians. Even tho it was sad & the way they were treated was awful i have never forgotten it or have never forgotten how bad they were treated. Another time they took us to a major league baseball game in st. louis, mo. I have never been as miserable in my life. Sure never wanted to go back to another one. It was no fun to me at all. So do u see why i don't travel, lol? | | | | | | |

| | When I was born, my parents took me to El Paso Texas where my father was a officer for maintenance of missiles. Then he was sent to North Italy to a military base in Decenzano Della Garda. That is the first souvenir of my childhood. They put me in a kindergarden in Italian and we had to kiss the statue of the Madonna, holy virgin, during the recess. I refused and I was punished. After it was a military base in Germany, and another one in Belgium.Always to shoot down the potential planes from USSR or DDR trying to invade the free world. I had to learn German and Dutch. And when I was a teen ager I traveled a lot to USSR Poland Tchecoslovakia, France Spain UK until I was caught in a Muslim country for being a mossad agent. | | | |

| | When I was a young I went on trips to France with my family. I liked hearing the French language. When I went to secondary school I learned French so that delighted me. I learn that language for five years. From a very tiny age I dreamed about one day traveling the world. When I was 13 years old I got a paper round and I saved up to go off traveling. At age 14 years old I had enough money and I was able to fly off to Greece. I went with my mom. It was very exciting to go on a plane that first time. I got to see the landscape below before the plane went into the clouds. I got severe ear pain just before the plane landed. It was so lovely to spend time on the Greek island. The weather was very hot and I got my shoulders burned. So that first country I went to was France, then the second country was Greece. At age 16 years old I worked as a Saturday shop assistant. I went to the Netherlands with a friend when I was 17 years old. Hug to you my dear friend. | | | | | | |

| | We moved from New Jersey to Texas when I was about 22 months, don't remember it, but does that count? After that, we went back to New Jersey almost every summer to see the grand folks. | | | | | | |

| | Hi marguicha! I have been fortunate enough to travel most of my life. :-) I've been to every state in the United States except two, I've lived in 7 different states, I have visited many countries in Europe and have lived in Greece, 3 different parts of Italy, Japan and the Philippines. We were also supposed to move to France, but I called a stop to it, so I could come back to the States to finish school. Then, I met my future husband and didn't want to travel anymore. I've lived in 37 different homes and I'm only 55. So, yes--I've traveled. :-) There's a phrase that people use to describe my father--"He was born with sand in his shoes", which means that he has itchy feet and must stay on the move to keep them relieved. My father was a welding inspection engineer for Exxon (then Esso)and so, that's why we did most of our traveling. We did a lot of traveling between New Jersey and New York, even before my father got that job--as my parents are from the northeastern part of New York, but we had moved to New Jersey when I was very little. So we went back and forth quite often to visit the rest of our family. But, my first "Big" trip was very similar to yours. I was 9 years old and we were moving to Greece for two years. It was the first time any of us had flown (my younger brother, younger sister, my parents and me) on an airplane. It was scary, but exciting!! It was a big plane from TWA--and my father's company paid for us to fly first class! We got to visit the cockpit where the pilots were and received our wings. We were allowed to have whatever we wanted to eat and drink--which proved to be a problem for me later. We received a bag with slippers, soap, a washcloth, a handtowel, toothpaste and a toothbrush in it. We also got pillows and blankets as we were going to be sleeping on the plane too. I can remember falling asleep and then the next thing I knew--the sun was shining so brightly through the windows and all we could see were huge, billowing clouds. It felt like we were in Heaven! I know what you mean about the needles--we had to have all kinds of shots too, but we had them before we left. The one I hated the most was the one for typhoid, as my arm would ache for 3 or 4 days afterward, and I'd get a little fever too. It's still better than having typhoid, I guess. | | | | | | |

| | ya my first travel was like 3 years before when i was 18. I had gone with my uncle to Singapore at the time of Chinese new year. It was quite fun. We went to many places. We also did some business. met lots of master and rinpoche. We had the chance to see their culture of celebrating new year. They would give a red envelope with some money in it to an unmarried boy. | | | | | | |
