Now, this friend of mine chose to ignore me regardless of how many text messages I've sent him. what am i supposed to do now? ignore him as well? or should i pester him again seeking for forgiveness ?

Your friend should understand why you did it.
Yes, ignore him. As your friend didn't respond to your messages, stop sending it. But when you two meet, talk to your friend as usual, and if you're ignored, well, if I were you, I'd ignore him, too.

| |  You did the right thing by listening to your superior instead of listening to your friend. You need not be apologetic to your friend for doing something right. You need not seek his forgiveness. If he is not responding to your messages then you too ignore him as he did. Eventually he would realize his mistake and come around.
