They'll replace it with an identical model so don't worry about that.
I have a Verizon Diamond (I believe that's what it's called). I think it's haunted. It gets all weird at times. Occasionally and quite randomly, an alarm will go off, either at 2 a.m. or 6 a.m., starting with it vibrating, then a short alarm sound, neither of which I've ever selected to use with any feature! Sometimes it will turn on by itself for no apparent reason. Sometimes, it hangs up when I press "answer" when it rings.
If it were up to me, I'd switch from Verizon to something else. I don't like the cost and I REALLY don't like being rudely awakened by that stupid alarm! I can't find where it's coming from to turn it off and I've pushed every button there is on the darned thing! When an alarm goes off that I have set, it goes to the alarm page so I know what the alarm is for but not when it randomly goes off at 2 or 6 a.m. It stays on the home page. I can't figure it out so it MUST be haunted.

The insurance covers whatever type of phone you have. So you break your blackberry they replace it with one after you pay the deductable. You can change your plan at any time. so if you ever decide to have a regular phone, you can remove the data plans. I believe that since the data is an add on now you can remove it without extending.

Like the one user said, they will replace it with the same phone. My last phone was an LG envtouch, and it would turn itself on and off just when it felt like, but mostly when I had it in my purse. I had a psycho phone I tell you.
I had gone to a kiosk in the mall and told the ones there about it, and they said that more than likely it was defective. Well, to make a long story shore, I chose not to exchange it as I was afraid I would end up with the same thing happening again to the new phone, so instead, I ended up buying a different phone at full price as I wasn't eligible to upgrade at the time I did. I am glad that I did change my phone though, as the one I have now, is much better, and it doesn'[t do that, and I can do more with it, even mylot. I couldn't come in here with my envtouch. I now, have a Samsung Omnia 2 and very happy with it. Take care, and happy mylotting.

and here i thought blackberry was suppose to be good since its been around awhile and with verizon there was no option of iphone so it was blackberry or palm.. ugh figures though.. and it figures i researched the crap outta this phone and never saw anything bad about blackberry till i had probs then i am hearing it from everyone that theirs sucks too.. i dont have the money to replace mine either.. but now its on good behavior.. the prob is it will be good for awhile then mess up for a day or so then go back to being good.. i need more stability than that!

My son has the first blackberry storm, and he is having problems with it locking up on on him everyday, and he needs it for his business. He can't really afford to get a new phone before his contract is up, so he is just living with it, and then he will upgrade, but he said he won't get another blackberry. I don't know what he willo get. Only time will tell.
