Teaching Myself to Write a How-to or Self-Help Book  

i wish i had a good response to this but i just don't have

i've been spending a lot of time in national bookstore chasing down books that would help me upgrade my writing to a more objective style than the commentary style i am using now.

But if it's any help...

think of the topic
create an outline
add facts (enough relevant ones)

Most people will only tell you what works for them when it comes to writing a large amount of material. If you wish to write an article about how writers can increase their word count to a specific amount, incorporate ideas about how the writer can conduct research, interviews with qualified people about the topic, or brainstorm ideas using elements that correlate to but are not exactly the topic.

Word count is essential in any project for the writer needs to know on a day-by-day basis how to plan the story and how to keep at it.

Research, think and try to think about it when you are not writing. Those things will help narrow the scope of your topic.

When writing a book it is always a difficult balancing act between discipline and free expression. Most people, especially novice writers, need to plan carefully. They need to write a detailed synopsis with chapters clearly defined. They then know how many words, approximately, per chapter. In this way they can decide how many words they need to give to each component/incident/scene-setting/character description etc. This gives a framework for the book. However, sometimes, when writing, the author realises that some parts need to run on while others need to be tightened up. Even so, they should always keep the framework in mind.

...Hi bloggeroo, Writing means just that I think, you have to write. Whatever your subject is write it down, and then write ten more ways to say the same idea in a different way. This is for the exercise of writing. Take those ten ways you wrote about your subject, put them on one blank piece of paper each. Put them all aside. then go back a little later, take each sheet and write everything you can about the title of that page. Do this with each of the ten pages, day by day. Now, take your original title and start to outline what you wish to say chapter wise. Then fill in your outline chapter by chapter. Next those ten pages should be read and whatever is revelant to the chapters that you wrote should be incorporated. Pull it all together, once again put it down, come back later and add what you feel needs to be added, using a 1, 2, 3 or a, b, c note system within the body of your work. Then write it up or type it up completely, refine it and review it. If satisfied you have your book if not, do the steps you feel are necessary to complete it. Hope this helps. I believe that you have what it takes to write a book. A book that will be of help to others in your field. It all starts with a desire. That's the starting point. Then of course, think of your interest that you can write about. A thousand words will not be enough for your book because you have lots to discuss and explain. Anyway, I would like to hear when you're done with your wonderful book.

Word count can really make a beginning writer feel obliged or strapped. Like there's this site that obliges writers to submit their articles according to a certain number of words. It never accepts articles that do not follow the word count rule. Well maybe the purpose is to set a standard or fairness as some writers have the tendency to just submit articles without exhausting all the possibilities one can write about a certain idea.

start just fee writing without worrying how the words will come together and secondly, read everything you can get your hand on about the subject of writing!
