Skytrax has just named South Korea's Asiana Airlines as the airline of the year at the annual World Airline Awards, held in Hamburg, Germany,.
The annual awards by Skytrax are based on surveys with more than 17 million passengers, carried out over 10 months. Passengers rate airlines on customer service, comfort of seating, quality of food, lounges and cabin crew.
It is a marked improvement for Asiana Airlines which was ranked 3rd last year and was praised by Skytrax chairman Edward Plaisted saying that the airline has clearly met and exceed their customers' expectations.
Last year's top airline, Cathay Pacific slipped back to fourth place, while Qantas lost another spot in the 2010 awards, dropping to seventh place, down from sixth last year and loosing another award - the best rated airline in the Australia/Pacific region to Air New Zealand, climbing from eighth to fifth on the overall ranking.

It is lovely to hear about these awards being given to the different airlines. My favorite airlines that I have been on are Air New Zealand, Qantas and Virgin Atlantic. I like the charter airline called First Choice. I will be flying to Canada next month I hope. The cabin crew on the airline I am going on have been doing some strikes. I only just got travel insurance because I wasn't at all comfortable once my other flight got canceled due to the travel company going out of business. I have also just booked my train travel to the train station near to the airport.

maximax8,
I think these awards are necessary as they would motivate airlines and airports to improve and bring out their best.
Also, it lets every traveler enjoy their trip and give invaluable feedback and assessments. I am a frequent flyer with Singapore Airlines and their partners in the Star Alliance.
I am sorry to learn of your travel incidents and I hope that you have received your rightful compensations.
Have a nice day.

Its nice to hear the best airways as we used to travel in air. Best airways are always catched. My dear can you spot out the most deadlies airways, Nowadays some of the airways are going on crashing frequently. Any survey about that. If you know tell me so that I will not chose that flight for my travel.

mjanakha,
I really like to think of you as a nice individual here but let me brutally honest that your posts just tells me otherwise and I feel you have to right to know this.
But, I will try and take it that you are trying to show your sense of humor here. So, let me say that I don't think I or anyone will be alive if we are able to spot the most deadliest airline.
Anyway, just for your satisfaction and since there's nothing edifying in naming who is who, I shall leave it to your literacy to catch up here.
Be nice.
