what does "referral" mean on earth?

oh well, i guess you know what refer means, it means your trying to refer someone to that site. there are site that encourage you to refer someone to their site so that there will be more members to that site and in return they will give you credit for that to be added to your earnings. like here in mylot, when you refer someone you can earn something like 25% of what they earned. though your referrals still get the money of what they earned.
