How can you describe the color blue to a blind person since birth?  

Honestly, this would be a very difficult question for me to answer because they've never seen anything to understand really what shades are or anything. I think if I had to answer this and exlain it to them I would honestly be baffled. Because any words I could use such as pigments or shades, I don't think they'd fully understand because they've never experienced them.

Blue can be explained as the water falling when it rains. The idea of describing a color to a blind person is that it should be associated with something that has feeling or texture. We know that when water pools it has a blue apperanceand that the rain is what replenishes the pooling waters.

The color Blue is like feeling the water in the ocean, or sticking one's hand in a freezer, that's how you might describe blue.

Yeah that would be difficult to explain since the blind person doesn't have any idea about colors.

If the person is blind, then use the remaining senses of man. For taste, give the blind person a mentholated candy; touch, give him an ice or a pitcher of water from the refrigerator or it could be the cool environment in an air conditioned room; emotionally, the sense of being calm. A person who can describe a color to a blind and make him/her understood, can describe anything in the world. Its very difficult infact, sometimes its not easy to describe a color to a normal person. Just let a blind imagine a think which is associated with that color.

I don't know how I would be able to describe color to someone who is blind. It is like describing sound to someone who always been deaf and never heard sound before. What would I say to help them understand what color is if they never seen color before?

Did you ever read the book "A Wrinkle in Time"? There was a beautiful explanation in there describing vision to somebody who can't see.

That sure is a tough question. Blind lack sight but they still have feelings. The best way is really to attribute feelings to the color. Try looking into songs as well, if they are not hearing impaired. Since blue is usually related to loneliness, then it can be described as such. Loneliness can also be related to rain, water, and deep ocean. These things can be used in comparison to the color blue.
