I am tickled pink! I made my very first strawberry jam! |
| |
| We have a lot of strawberries I don't really care for them to just plain eat. I picked a lot of fruit in my youth and strawberries is one of those that I picked. I used to eat them all the time when I was picking them so I got to where I just plain don't really care to eat them by themselves. I love jams and wanted to see if I could do it. And boy did it come out great. First time for everything. So have you ever made jams before? Do you can? I wish I knew how to can mom said she would teach me. So what have you made out of the things you grow? Please share with me! | | | | | |

| | Me and my mom used to make guava jams. During guava season we get too many guavas that they just fall out of the trees. Do you have guavas there? They might smell nasty while cooking but they really taste good. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Ddaguno and welcome to my lot. No never heard of guava before had to look it up to figure out what they are. Says they are like apples. Can you tell me what they are? Do have a lot of apple trees in the yard I want to make some jams out of them when they start to come out this year. Thanks for sharing. | | | |

| | Hi Cher. When you learn to make the freezer jam how about putting it on here so everyone can learn. I love jams I don't really care too much for jellys but jams are my favorites. I just tried this cause I seen it on HGTV and it looked easy enough and sure enough it was. Thanks! It made my husband proud that I did this without help! | | | |

| | Hi Richnai. The jam I made was out of a strainer of strawberries. It only made 3 quart jars and 2 of them will go to friends of ours. I have blackberries and raspberries I will make jams out of when they are ready. I love it. | | | |

| | Hi Oldchem1. I love jams not too keen on jelly though. I will make blackberry and raspberry jams when they are ready to be picked. My husband makes all kinds of delicious deserts with all the berries we have here but there is more then enough to make jams too. Now that I know how to make them. Thanks for sharing. | | | |

| | hi free_man just stepping by to say congrats on your achievement making jam. My mother made jam and also canned fruits and veg.I havent done that so far cause we dont have a garden and it would mean buying the fruit and veg first as we cant grow anything except a few herbs on the balcony. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Book. Thank you it felt good to do something with those strawberries. We have blackberries and raspberries growing too when they get ready I think I will do the same with them. I love having a garden. It is such a shame that you don't have room enough to grow a garden, but you can if you want grow pants in containers if you have the room. Potatoes are easy to grow in a 5 gallon bucket, you put a little dirt in the bottom of the bucket and put some potatoe eyes up in the dirt and when the plant starts to make leaves cover it up again and then keep doing this till the bucket is full of dirt and dump it out you will have potatoes. Glad you stopped by it is always nice to see you my friend! Hope all is well with you and yours! Hope you have a wonderful day my friend! | | | |

| | Hi Book. That is a long time to get some time for yourself. I thank God that we work for ourselves. Which is really work. When we aren't working for someone else we are working at our home fixing this or that. Heck today we mowed a yard for someone else and then came home to mow and weed eat some of our yard. So I know how you feel not having the time to do what you have to do. Is your aunt still around your mom? Well I hope and pray you have a little time to rest from all the stress your under! Have a great day my friend! | | | |

| | hi free_man I just tell myself to pull myself together, as there is no other option about how to cope. I cant change the situation as it is right now but have to live with it. When times are tough I always remind myself of the fact that I only got to endure all this from Mon to Wed evening and not 24/7 | | | |
