June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month--Any plans for adopting a new friend?

According to Cat Fancy, June is Adopt a Shelter Cat month. They remind us that each year millions of cats and kittens enter shelters and many are euthnized, not because they are sick or bad kitties, but because of space and resources shortages, in a work they are killed because no one wants them. I wish I could adopt more, but I got an unexpected Christmas gift this year in the form of my adorable kitty Freddie who is quite the charmer. I am glad I got the opportunity to keep him out of the shelter system by bringing him into my home, he is just a lovely little creature. Not to say that my other two lovely kitties(Ashley and Carlye) are any less so. My cats are the light of my life and I feel blessed to have them. And according to research they are better for your cardiovascular health then dogs, who knew? So anyone out there planning to honor adopt a cat month? Or has anyone recently gotten a new kitty? Or just tell me about the furbabies you have.

That would be nice. Those are some nice kitties in the blog. I hope they are able to find good homes.

as much as i'd like to,i'm full (6 cats) i might just pick a charity and donate tho.that still helps cats out :)

That is a good idea. I just sent in my yearly contribution to the Humane Society and the ASCPA. And you are helping out by raising your six kitties!

I already have two cats with me. My complex won't let me have any more. Personally I don't mind adopting. That's how my mom got my cat Precious for me. We also got a few other cats from the shelter there too. (that was of course when I lived at home) But, the other cat I've got, Chinnia, was a stray I litterly picked up and took home.

Good for you and your mom. I got Freddie the way you got Chinnia. He was hanging around my little brother's house so I picked him up and took him home.

I am not sure but I am allergic to cats' fur. I'm asthmatic so even if I wanted to adopt one for my kids, we have lot of kittens in our neighborhood already that steals left over food and I hate their smell so much. Sorry.

Thats too bad. Well, not everyone can be a cat rescuer. If you want to help cats without adopting one you can always make a donation to an animal rescue.
