For now I'm using a laptop SAMSUNG,R470,14" screen,500G harddisk,DVDRW,4G RAM,and it cost me less than 12000RMB,it's doing quite well in my hands,fast enought and stable,but the sound sys is kind of weak.
If a chinese stuff is available in your place,try ACER,it cost less but working very well.
