Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CPT) or Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) has always been a bane for heavy computer users (like me I suppose). Although there are several causes to this related to the use of computer most common cause is spending a lot of time, I mean hours and hours, in front of the computer with out taking a break.
To avoid this, short break must be taken between a short period of time (20-30 min) working in front of the computer.
Now, how long do you work in front of a computer with out taking a break and do you think this is safe or you are a candidate of having (if you don't don't have it yet) a CTS or RSI?
Do you have any good idea on how to avoid CTS or RSI?

I spend more than 12 hours in the PC especially when I color my drawings on photoshop. :( My hand hurts like crap after that. I simply take a bottle from the fridge and i put it on my wrist for about 5 minutes for the pain to go away. Sometimes I even go to school with a splint on my right hand. I heard that in sever cases, this could lead to surgery!

yeah, it would hurt like hell. But is cold bottle good for the tired hand? It will relieve the pain, but I'm not quite sure of the long term effect. A bottle with hot water probably works better. Though I don't use the mouse that long without taking periodic breaks. And I think it's best to use a graphic tablet when photo editing.
