How does your water taste???

I live in an area that has a lot of lime in the water and it tastes awful. I have dealt with yucky tasting water before and tried using the Brita filter but found that Brita was not quite good enough. When I got here, I got the Culligan faucet filter and I am sold! It does a much better job than Brita ever did and there are no little charcoal floaties in my water. And my water tastes awesome!!!
Now I'm making plans to move in two years to a place where the water not only tastes funny, it looks awful. There is a lot of rust and the village doesn't filter it. I don't know that my Culligan will be up to the task there, as it is sooo bad. I thought of getting a rainbarrel for my drinking water but all the rain barrels I've found just say they're for watering the yard and garden. Does anyone out there know where I can get a rain barrel that will filter the water so that I can drink it??? All suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Well, water does not have a taste but sometimes it has different tastes. If I am really thirsty, especially for long hours, water would taste very delicious. But if I drink too much water because I have to (ex. a remedy) then water would taste gross.

LOL...how old are you? I have to ask because I used to not taste differences in water, either. As I've gotten older, though, my taste has become more sensitive and yes, water does have flavor caused by its trace elements. It can taste metallic, bitter or sweet and I can't handle metallic or bitter tasting water which is why I use my culligan filter.

Temperature also makes a difference in the palateableness(my own word) of water. I much prefer mine iced but even ice can only do so much when the water is bitter or metallic tasting.

Hm...I use a purifier that's attached to my fridge for my water so I've never noticed much of a specific taste. But a few years ago I drank this off brand of bottled water, I think...Nestle manufactured it or something and it had a distinct milk taste, it was really odd.

lol...yeh, I noticed that there are a lot of different bottled water out there that has a definite bitter taste, too. My favorite is Evian because it is sweet and almost milky in its taste, too. Nothing metallic. My dad bought a still and was distilling his own water and claimed it tasted SO pure! Me, I tasted metal in it more than the tap water so I always insisted on my tap water. Of course, this was Juneau, Alaska city water which is pretty darn tasty compared to water I've had in other areas of the country. And no white flakes floating around in it, either! YEAH!

I was actually using a filter machine for purifying water, but i had to spend a lot on it in changing the batteries often, so i have started to buy canned water now-a-days, they say it is filled with mineral, but dont know for sure, the water anyway tastes okay, so we drink it...
