Without a doubt, The Empire Strikes Back. You had excellent character developement. You had more new hardware, ships, monsters, etc. introduced than ever before. You had not 1 but 2 storylines going on at the same time. And of course the anti-Hollywood unhappy unresolved ending. What's not to love?
