What do you think of GMA's farewell address?

I think she forgot shave her mustache. Did you catch her farewell address last night? She congratulated Noynoy and Binay and then went to sing praises to her administration. It was truly stomach-turning. There she was again touting her alleged accomplishments. It does sit well with me when people toot their own horns. To top it all, her expression did not match what she was saying. I think the show "Lie to Me" will have a lot of material from her. What do you think? Did she come off as honest in her farewell address to you? Do you believe what she said in that address? My apologies to GMA's fans, if any.

What I know is that she is planning for return. No wonder she is run for lower position so that she will be part of the house of representatives. For me is not really a sincere goodbye but I guess see you in the next round. I just hated it, that she prepared all the things for her coming back. I guess that is the reason why she immediately appoint the new chief of justice. Where in fact she is about to end her term but still she managed to appoint someone. That is why I am not really in favor with our chief of justice now. I am not updated with political issues but I just hope that Aquino changed the chief of justice. Remember the constitution we have, once you have elected as a president and served your term you are no longer allowed to run for any government position. But the Justice Department allowed GMA because GMA is their boss whatever she will asked and wants they are going to give it to her. I would not wonder that one day that CHA CHA thing it will pass through and we will have a prime minister. I just hope it will not happen.

I can understand now why Noynoy didn't want Corona in the first place because if he would file a case against the arroyo, she will be acquitted by Corona, and same goes for ombudsman. that's why gordon wanted to change the rule in choosing the ombudsman because it's the President who assigns them and if the President is a friend of the ombudsman, oh no!

@ada8may: I feel the same way. She wants to stay in the government so that her ears will be on the ground in case anyone wants to run after them. She must really be hiding a lot of things for her to be this apprehensive. Why can't she be like Ramos who retired after his term of office? I do hope that Corona will resist being beholden to GMA when cases against her are filed in court. @Letranknight: I agree, Noynoy had grounds to be suspicious of Corona. But, for the sake of our country, I hope, really really hope that Corona will not be beholden to GMA. I agree with Gordon that the Constitution has to be changed especially with respect to the Office of the Ombudsman. In hindsight, the power of appointment to this office should not be given to those it will investigate.

I was not able to watch GMA's farewell speech last night but upon reading this discussion I can say I feel your sentiment. She may have accomplished things but she left us with triple debt.

I agree, our great, great grandchildren may still be paying for the debt that she has incurred.

Oh I was not able to watch it. I will just check it in the internet. I hope her congralutory message to the newly elected President and Vice President came truly from her heart.

You might be disappointed. It sounded to me like the way her "I'm sorry" speech on the Garci scandal. Her congratulations were short and concentrated on her accomplishments.

Luckily I'm not a GMA fan; I wasn't able to hear and watch GMA's farewell address. I was laughing about your comments. I believe that she's still interested to hold an office as a president. John Lapuz should have interrogated her if she'll be a guest in "Don't Lie to Me" and that will make the show so funny and interesting.

I am not a GMA fan either, unless you're talking about the network. I don't think she will want to join that show since she might be exposed. John Lapuz: "Did you cheat in the elections?" GMA: No, but I am shorry... Machine: Honk, honk!

hi, I only read the transcript...Time will tell though I see nothing inherently wrong with noting her industry and putting the outgoing administration's contributions in a historical context. For me, I suggest that NoyNoy proclaim a moratorium on 'scandal' or negative reporting for perhaps one month. Amazingly, newspapers would continue to sell, reporters would still have current issues to write about and all Filipinos would be encouraged and have a reasonable opportunity to rally in unity. It is easier to be against something or someone diba? Why not truly give the son of a National Hero, an opportunity to set a new paradigm? See you on wednesday ;) Eric

I did not actually say that it was wrong to tell the world about her accomplishments. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's not a job interview but a congratulatory note. Tells me how narcissistic she is, cannot stand shining the spotlight on someone else. I doubt if media will agree to the moratorium. Nobody will buy their papers.

As I said, it takes a new approach and positive thinking.

She totally lacks any moral compasses. It's a shame her father is better than her in terms of good governance. How many millions of the Filipino's tax money did she spent to make up those contrived statistics about her so-called "accomplishments"? It's just like adding insult to injury. I did not watch her last speech, because I know she will just stood there and lie from beginning to end without batting an eyelash. And the only time I am happy seeing her was when she tries to put up a happy face while legions of poor and rich people alike cynically mocks her at Luneta. Good riddance to a bad rubbish they call GMA.

Hello the advocate, I can't say that am a big fan but for once at least i get to recognize some of her accomplishments. but i just can't help knowing those darn allegations from here despite the fact she tried to save our economy and prevented us from completely melting down during FInancial Crisis. the most disturbing i guess was her plans for charter change which really scared the people into hating her more.maybe she never should have run again, what could have anyways, but of course, it's better than FPJ winning the Presidential Seat

You share the same opinion as my mother, anyone except FPJ. In hindsight, I do not know what that says of a country who can only manage to scrounge up FPJ and GMA as presidential candidate. I also found her plans to amend the constitution frightening especially if it meant extending her term. God forbid! I am not sure though that she saved us from a financial crisis. We are already deep in debt, so we might have been already in crisis long before the First World did.

i noticed her mustache too! hehehehe i felt that she took more time in telling her accomplishments than saying farewell and congratulations to the newly elect leaders.

I thought I was alone in my observation. That's right, she went on and on with her alleged accomplishments. It was not a farewell address but a tribute to herself. She feels that since nobody is singing praises of her, she might as well do it herself.

her "legacy" being aired on television might be some of the preview of what will she'll be reading on her farewell address...

I do not think it is a farewell address, it is an accomplishment address. That is not a congratulatory message for the incoming President Noynoy Aquino and to Vice President-elect Binay. Let us make some thing of what she had done in the country. A lot of controversy, graft and corruption is very high on her administration. She is not a well-loved president by the media and all people here in the Philippines. Maybe she had a lot of projects made but every big project made there are also some controversies involved. I don't think GLor

I agree, it's a putting up a defense speech. She is really running scared since she knows Noynoy promised to run after her. Her administration has been riddled with so many scandals. The people who were asked to rate her administration were not impressed with her so-called accomplishments and so she wants to write history in her own terms in case history will not be kind to her.
