Why would someone have a garage sale with their dogs not secure

I love garage sales. It is something I do almost every weekend. This is one of my big pet peeve. Folks who do not take the time to price their stuff, and I absolutely hate to shop at garage sales where the dogs are sniffing at my legs, or they are barking. I cannot understand why anyone would not secure their dog until the garage sale is over. Today, I went to a garage sale. As soon, I entered the driveway there is a dog barking and coming towards me. Of course, I turned around and start walking back to my car. I heard the homeowner saying I am sorry I will secure the dog, but there were like three other dogs with her. I got in my car and left. I am probably venting, but it makes no logical sense to me. I see this a lot of time, and I refuse to deal with this mess.

We usually have a yard sale once or twice a year. I used to put prices on our items but we would still get people asking how much the stuff is. Sometimes they would even take the price stickers off and say there was no price or they would even have the nerve to switch the stickers. So since then I don't put prices on anything that I am selling at a yard sale.
As for a lose dog at a sale, I have never seen that before. I think that is pretty daring of the owners to do. I wouldn't even have my dog outside if it were my sale. You would think that people would realize that a lose dog is a deterent for their sale.

I am with you with regards to dogs. When I see dogs on the street I go out of my way not to pass thru them, they might just go crazy and bite anyone who goes thru them. Even friendly dogs I am sometimes wary because you never know when they are going to go crazy, better safe that sorry.

well if its a dog that knows how to behave (or is older) that will just sit there, I honestly don't mind. I was at a garage sale yesterday with a dog like that and it was just enjoying being outside in the grass sitting by itself. Dogs that bark and are younger can get annoying...and yes they should put them away.
