yes you are right the responsibilities that a women handles and the roles that she plays has certainly changed over time. I know my mom how hard working she is. She has been working since a long time....no she plays the role of a grandma for my neices. She has been an excellent mom.

It kinda sounds like your definition of "lady" is the June Cleaver type. It seems very old-fashioned. I am definitely not judging, because I personally believe in individuality. I believe people should be who they want to be and not let anyone else tell them who they have to be. I think that is also why I disagree with the stereotypical "lady". I believe that woman should be heard, I believe we should all be unique, special and independent. I do not believe that women should aim to perfect herself so a man will "take" her. I believe that a woman should respect her man, but also demand the same in return.

Woman are still not completely equal because of this whole "be seen and not heard" deal. I do not believe in a patriarchal society, I believe that there should be equality between the sexes. That said, I don't agree with promiscuity, and I believe a woman should be in a relationship and truly be in love before even considering marriage. I tend to have a romantic view of love, I feel like a man should treat their wife/girlfriend like they are the most important in their life, and in return, the woman should return that adoration.

I think this is really something that different people would have different opinions. I personally think that the traditional meaning of lady is too demanding for most women. It demands a submissive personality, fragility, dependence, dainty, etc. Most modern woman wants more out of life than to get her husband a "cold one" and iron his pants. Nothing is wrong with having a family, actually, it is a blessing, but the modern family is so much more equalized, and I think it is more realistic and happy.

So from that understanding that I take away from your post, no, I am not a "lady". I am an independent, unique, opinionated young woman, who does not believe in compromising who I am just to find a man, get married and spend the rest of my life cooking, ironing and playing second fiddle to sports and "the guys". I believe that there are probably a lot more people who fall into that, than fall into the "lady" category.

All that being said, I very much consider myself to have class. I am respectful, I am shy, I do usually try not to upset others, so I am somewhat of a people pleaser at times. But I much more prefer to just live my life for me, and not for other people. Because I have found, if you try to please other people, there are still many people who will disapprove of you. Nobody is perfect. I try not to lie, if I have in the past they have been small ones meant to protect others, I would never cheat because I have a guilty conscience, and I don't steal, also because of the way I'd feel if I did.
