Last May, we had an exam..A very difficult exam..The exam givers said that the passing score is 75 and above..After all the examination papers were checked, no one passed the exam..Then later on, it was said that 50 will be the new passing score..In this case, 7 has passed..Isn't it unfair to those below the 50 new passing score?..All of them should have not passed the exam in the first place..Then suddenly now 7 has passed?..What the?..
What I'm trying to say is that the exam givers should have sticked to what they have said..Changing the passing score after the exam is some sort of bias..

Are you still angry at that qualifying exam? I think that you're right about the bias but you should think the institutions need to have graduates in that degree.. you know what i mean..

haha..i really feel that what they did was very unfair..yeah..you're right about that..they need to have graduates in that degree and that's the very reason why they lowered the passing grade after seeing the result of that exam..they did that for themselves..for their so-called "reputation"..tsk..what would people say if no one passed their exam?..that they don't teach very well?..their teaching methods are not very effective?..so that's why they allowed some to pass..haha..and one more thing..they knew that if none passed, there would be no students who will take the board exam in that batch..meaning they would have no "high passing rate" in the board exam at one point in time..lol
i really have a feeling that they don't care about their students..tsk3x..
poor students..their efforts are not being recognized.. :(

If the pass mark was something before the exam, it should be the same after the exam, and people shouldn't be told that they have passed when they failed initially.
You need to ask yourself why you didn't pass the exam, though. If it's because it was too hard, you should ask for help from your tutor, but if it's because you didn't do enough revision for it, then you should make sure that your revision techniques are much improved for the future- as I assume that you will be redoing this assessment at some point in the near future.

yeah..that's right..i totally agree with that idea..
the exam is really too hard..i really have a feeling that they don't want more students to pass..'cause they're targeting to have a high passing percentage in the board exams..that's why as much as possible, they try to lessen the passers in such an exam..but what they did was really unfair..
all right..i'll describe the whole scenario on this why i say it's really unfair..
there's this group A and group B let's say..
group A are those who are really going to take that exam..
group B normally don't take such an exam but for those in group B who want to be part of group A, they can take that exam provided they have reached a certain grade in their basic subjects..
this group B are in the process of reaching the grade requirement to take such a test so they aren't supposed to take this exam, however, about a week ago before the exam was about to start, there was this announcement that both groups are required to take that exam..
group A know they will take this exam even more than 2 months before the exam..and yet, none of them has still passed initially..what i'm trying to say is that if both group A and group B has just been given equal chances/time for review, then maybe all or if not, most of the students in group B will have a higher chance of passing as well..to summarize it: group A had greater time for review and group B had lesser time to review..but they both took the exam..so, who's in a handicap now?..lol
the defense of one of the teachers during the forum is that she told a student that group B is also going to take the exam about 1 month before the exam, i think..but still, she made a mistake on that..asking one person/student to distribute such an information is not very effective..why did she do what when we have so many media to distribute that information such as thru txt msg, internet, social networking sites, or post the announcement in the corkboards near the faculty or if possible, in all the corkboards at the college building..tsk..

This is the first time I’ve heard of such arbitrary decision…which place was this examination held? I think you can take the examiners to court for changing the pass marks without any prior intimation or planning…definitely very unfair to those who failed.

hehe..can that be?..are there any laws that tell this one can be brought to court?..yeah..really unfair..no matter how you look at it..tsk..
