I just began reading Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger and I am quite surprised. My impression of this book had been that it's somesort of a classic, and read in English classes [and therefore boring]. I also thought it was some sort of baseball/sports drama of a story, just from the title; I knew absolutely nothing about it. My friend had a copy of the book, so I started reading the first page or two out of curiosity. I was so wrong! I enjoyed it so much, I asked to borrow it. I'm about halfway through now, and it's such a good book. The narrator's character is so defined and the way he tells the story is just so characterized!

A very controversial book, my cousin recommended it to me with a side story that this is the book for serial killers. lol When I read it I couldn't believe it was written in the 50's. This book got one of the most memorable character ever.

I had to read that book when I was in college for my English Lit 1 class. I still have the book, too. I can't say it's one of my favorite books, but I did enjoy reading it.
