Is there a way to earn money through making facebook application?

I made an application "Are You Funny?" in facebook in the hope that I will be able to earn money on facebook. I heard creating an application in facebook is a earning process which need a minimum number of user monthly and liked by ten or more people. My application is not use much and not liked yet by anyone. Would you please see whats wrong with my application that no body likes it yet as its more than six month old now.
