Back when I had a a house, I hosted an Around the World Potluck. I had all my guests pick their top three countries to bring their food from and then assigned them a country. We had American food, French Food, Italian Food, Mexican and more. Of course, the most poplar were, American, Mexican, and Italian. I had a really good turn out though and got to try all kinds of food along the way. I made Russian cookies that were really good! I am thinking about doing it again... If you were going to go to an event like this, what types of food would you want to try and would you and any other types of "events" to it.

I have never heard of one being hosted at a house. I remember in school one year we had this but I totally forget which year. I actually think it was way back in Elementary school. In any case, On top of food I would suggest some games. You could have your guests bring a game that is native to the country their dish is from. So say they bring a Russian meal, they can find a game that is native to Russia. Though depending on how many guests there are they'er may not be enough time to play a game!

That's cool that you did it in school. We never did anything like that in school. I was surprised at the great turn out I got, and I actually didn't have anything planned but the food. People had a great time! The games are a good idea too.

I think it was for a Spanish class. I couldn't host anything like that now because my husband and well I am too a bit picky... I like Japanese and Some Mexican Food, Italian is good too but nothing beats American lol.

My husband has helped me to expand my food tastes. I actually love Indian and Thai Curry because of him and have come to love sushi.

That's a good idea. My friends and I always have a themed dinner or lunch. Maybe we could do that. We've tried themes based on different countries, but never a global theme. Thanks for the idea!

No problem! We had fun when we did it, and it was pretty easy to set up.
