Well, on Sunday, the house across my house came with a fire truck, and then the ambulance also arrived shortly. Moment later, the paramedics carried a black male out, probably he has heart attack or something. But he seems okay after he came out that house, and get on the ambulance. I just curious, why every time people call for medical help on emergency, the fire truck always come along? I don't see there is any need of it?

funny but true huh?! :) its a protocol... just nthink of it, ambulances are needed for medical emergencies, while firetrucks are needed on the technical side.. firemen are trained for all kinds of rescue operations except for medical emergencies.. well they know first aide but still it needs complete medical attention right...

Yes ambulance come as a precaution. Because where the fire brigade is going. There are chances of burn injury etc. so this is good to send the ambulance also. I think this is one of the best services provided by the governments.

A fire truck often gets there first even if it is not a fire (like a call for a heart attack) There are fewer fires than there are every kind of emergency combined (obviously) so often all the ambulances are busy and firefighters (who have not as much medical training as paramedics, but more than police and much more than the average person) are available, so the fire truck goes to the scene of the emergency and the firefighters can do medical treatment until the ambulance and paramedics are free to help.

The ambulance are always moving around the areas they are suppose to be and sometimes they can't get to a medical call fast since they may not be near by or busy taking a victim to the hospital. So the firefighters that are near the medical call have to take the call and at least stabilize the victim that is hurt while the ambulance can get there. That's why it is require for the firefighters to take EMT classes and know the basics of EMT. It's not all putting the fire out for firefighters. I know cause my mother is a volunteer firefighter.

Hey Kingparker nice discussion buddy, As per my opinion ambulance comes for the first stage of medication. Mean to say if any body caught in the fire then first stage of medication can done. And also the fire men involved in that fire fight can get injured so for safety and precaution ambulance always come along the fire truck.

hmm i think it is part of the protocol. they just have to be ready just in case, and of course medics would know what to do in such emergency cases.

Hi kingparker, whenever there is fire happening there might be people get trapped on the scene. Very often emergency treatment is needed badly on the spot if there is any victim rescued hurt or burned in the scorching fire. Therefore it is necessary to have ambulancemen and suitable tools to do with the unlucky. For the sake of rescuing fire victims conveniently and without delaying it's appropriate to have an ambulance to standby aside the unfortunate scene to give immediate assistance at anytime. Firemen are the persons who are responsible to rescue miserable victims from the fire. That's why fire truck always goes first and ambulance is seen after the truck. Happy posting
