I am often confused by what the fruits being promoted in the web as the healthier fruits. Most often I will read Apple as a "must-have" in any healthy diet. But, checking on other fruits, I found out that there are many fruits which are cheaper than Apples and are actually healthier. Guava is one example. Higher in Calcium, Vitamin C, Vitamin A and many other minerals than Apple and yet not being promoted as much as Apple.

Guava contains 376 mg Vitamin C per cup this is more than oranges, which is the approximate amount used in most freshly made guava drinks and smoothies. Guava is also a good source of calcium, vitamins A & B, niacin, and fiber, and has only 84 calories per cup.

Thanks for sharing.
See guava is much cheaper compared to apples, we can buy fresh guava from local market, no insecticides or pesticides over them, apples are at least 5-6 days old, sprayed with poisonous stuff
i think both are equally good for health.

Oh, that is new to me. I know guava and I have eaten some while traveling to the tropical countries. Never knew the health value of guava. I only know that apple is very good for health. I keep hearing "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" ! I like apple and also apple juice. That is one of my favorite fruit juices I drink every morning at breakfast time.

I now believe that the guava has more health benefits than the apple because the latter is sweet and therefore may not be good for diabetics. I have recently learned that guava is medicinal as well.

Guava is very rich in Vit. C, indeed, but you can only take as much. Because the seeds are hard, it could cause constipation. Also, it is healther eaten with the rind which could be bitter sometimes.
