Mouth watering writing in books.

My husband just mentioned toast, and for some reason it took me back about 50 years to when I was reading Wind in the Willows. It was the part where Toad was in gaol and the gaoler's daughter brought him some hot buttered toast. I can remember how the description of that toast had made my mouth water and tummy rumble when I first read it. This prompted me to go and dig out my old copy of Wind in the Willows to read the passage - here it is, apologies if you're feeling hungry!! When the girl returned, some hours later, she carried a tray, with a cup of fragrant tea steaming on it; and a plate piled up with very hot buttered toast, cut thick, very brown on both sides, with the butter running through the holes in it in great golden drops, like honey from the honeycomb. The smell of that buttered toast simply talked to Toad, and with no uncertain voice; talked of warm kitchens, of breakfasts on bright frosty mornings, of cosy parlour firesides on winter evenings, when one's ramble was over and slippered feet were propped on the fender; Isn' tthat just so mouth watering? Have you ever read a food description in a book that has stayed in your memory like this?

Not really, but I must admit that after reading your excerpt my mouth watered and I had to get up and get me something to eat. It wasn't as delicious as your description but it sure made me hungry.

ahahaha unfortunately, I am not really good in imagining something I can easily watering if I see the thing or the food exactly when I read novel and come to the description, I use to skip it I just want to know how the story's end

Hmm It sounds nice, it makes it seem more romantic then really making me hungry though. I love the description of "talked of warm kitchens, of breakfasts..." etc.
