a friend asked me the other day who is the most unique guitarist in my mind. I said Jimi Hendrix. When I think about it it's actually a bit hard to answer that question.

For me it would be Chris Impelliteri. I've been hooked to that neo-classical style for 3 yrs now.

Well, knowbody esle was playing the guitar like Hendrix. So, he is definately in the top 5.. Im not sure number one though. Also consider, Tony Iommi who, unknowingly created the heavy Metal sound when he tuned his guitar down.

Jimi Hendrix was unique because he played a restrung right-handed stratocaster upside-down (left-handed) although he himself is actually not left-handed (ambidextrous)--unlike other left-handed guitarists such as Paul McCartney who is also left-handed.

It is kinda hard to pinpoint who would be the ultimate or most unique guitarest ever. Although I kinda agree Jimi Hendrix was up there in the top. There are also a lot of other good guitarest. Rolling Stone published a list of top 50 or top 100 guitarest, and Hendrix was #1.
