When we moved here 14 yrs ago, the property had only 2 trees and small ones at that. It was the same for the neighbors. We all have very large backyard and nobody had fences or any landscaping done. After a few years, I told hubby Id like to have some trees to make it more private. I wanted trees that would grow fast so we picked Chinese Elm. Woah...they sure grow fast, about 6-10 feet every year. We now have large trees on our property. I noticed over the years that we started having all kinds of birds and this year, we have 2 squirrels. They look like very young squirrels and they play around all the time, chasing each other. Hubby planted more trees, the name escapes me now but its not Chinese Elms. They are about 2 feet high and as Im sitting here I can see the squirrels hiding things in the soil around the young trees. Apparently they dont remember where they hide things lol. Do you plant trees on your property? Have you noticed the wild life after you did? Do you mind having squirrels around?

Planting a tree is so good for the environment. it is an investment in the future of the planet and this affects all of us. it also can add beauty to any landscape. you can;t go wrong by planting a tree.

I know that. I wish more people would plant beautiful trees to keep our air clean and you're right, its nice to look at also, and keeps privacy. Thanks!

I have been lucky enough to move into a house that has a lot of trees. Actually the backyard almost looks like a forest preserve. We have lots of birds and squirrels and other wildlife running all around. We have a bunch of crows that lately seem to camp out on our trees. I don't like the crows, they scare the little birds away. We have a lot of blue jays and lately we don't see them so much because of the big crows.

Thanks for talking about the crows. We used to have lots of birds here too, all kinds (sorry Im not good with bird name) but in the middle of the summer, I couldnt see any birds or hear them at 4AM. I was wondering what had happened but you just solved my problem....we have 3 big crows that keep fighting all the time. They are really annoying. So you say they scare birds away, so thats why!! I heard that crows are intelligent, that if you do something to them, they'll remember and get back at you. They say they watch what people do....kinda scary if you ask me. Sounds like we're both stuck with those big, noisy birds!! Must be great to have a forest in your backyard. I told hubby thats what Id like to have in my backyard also...not sure he agrees with me though haha!! Thanks!!

Planting is one of the first things I do when I move somewhere. Consequently we have rose of sharon and lilac shrubs that need to be groomed. We also have a pear, an apple, a peach and two cherry trees.

Lucky you to have all those fresh fruits right in your backyard. Must be great to be able to pick your fruits and eat them right there and then. Where I live, they call it the "apple country" and "sugar shack place" so lots and lots of apple trees and maple trees, but not in my backyard. A friend of mine was going to try growing cherries but not sure if he succeeded or not. I have lilacs also and one rose bush. Thanks!

Plants are very essential for human life. Nobody can deny the major contributions of little plants as well as big trees for our lives. I also like to grow plants in my surrounding and have also done a few! Plantation is a nice hobby for me!! Thanks and have always nice plantations!
