i got a new blackberry curve and its battery just dies daily. ive always been able to go days with out charging a phone but this one dies all the time at least once a day! could i have too many apps? i try to not have any that would be on and refreshing often but it doesnt seem to help..
so could it be apps? is this normal and i had good luck before with phones? i had a blackberry pearl (worst phone ever) and it had good battery life.. my cars cigarette lighter doesnt work so i really do not need it dying when im out..
any ideas? should i look for another battery?

My old LG shine had the same problem. I would charge the phone and even after it was fully charged if I received more than 5 text messages, the battery would start to get low. It used to drive me crazy! I ended up going to the ATT store and had them replace my battery, which they did for free. I would give that a try.

Battery life is always problematic in any high drain device like a smart phone. You may wish to purchase a second battery. Fully charge this new battery and do not use it until it is fully charged. Fully discharge the new battery. Repeat this process three times and your battery life will be optimized. After conditioning the battery any diminished operation time will be based on how you use your phone.
When you don't need them make sure you close all applications. If you have wifi and are not using it shut it down. The same is so with your internet connection, when not in use shut it down. The fewer things you have actually using your phones connectivity the longer your battery will last. It would be a good idea to invest in a couple of extra chargers that you can leave at work and in the car to facilitate charging when your battery does die.

I don't know about blackberries, since i don't own one, but I just got a new battery for my 3 year old flip=phone, and it's no better than the old battery. I swear they put things in phones to cause them to crap out just around the time when your contract is set to expire.

I have the Blackberry Curve 8530. My Battery last for awhile and you have to remember think of a smartphone always like a simple mobile computer. like laptops, netbook, tablets, and etc apps, HQ video games, Games, etc etc. All take up space. Now doing so it requires to use more battery power to use this app or game for the best performance.
Now on the blackberry I notice that you have to close/ exit apps internet Browser, games, pictures, etc if you have the same phone as me just hold the BlackBerry logo for about 3 sec and then a menu will pop up and it will show you either recent open apps or open apps. or just keep on hitting the back button. and it will exit those battery killing apps.
Trust me my blackberry doesnt last long if I use it like crazy so you must be a crazy texter or gamer or internet browser lol . Either way it is killing your battery.
Personally mines last about 8-10 hours if I dont use it alot and just text. about 4-6 browsing and gaming is almost about the same. :) I love my Berry haha

yeah but it was really short compared to the blackberry before it which they both were used like crazy so it was just odd that there was such a difference

No you need not go for new battery, i mean buy yourself, this one has some defect, Blackberry is reputed brand, if you are using the original charger, there should not be any problem, you can contact the dealer and get replacement..
Thanks for sharing
Cheers.
God bless you, have a nice day ahead.

Ok, it could mean that an application may be on all the time or not logged off. Be sure that your apps are logged off, games off. It can make the battery get discharged easily. Last night I was waiting for a game to go back to the start page, but I fell asleep. When I woke up, the battery was already in its red state. It drains the battery power. Otherwise, you may be using the internet or browsing/ surf. Maybe without that, it can manage to be in tip top battery shape. I have been noticing that when I use my apps the whole day or surfing the net, my battery drains fast. But, when I just text and call, it does not drain that fast. If all things fails.. have your phone checked. If its still within the warranty, have it repaired or swap it for a brand new one.
