Geordies are people who come from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, in the North East of England. An article here will tell you more about these lovely people. Anyway, they are renowned for going out clubbing without a coat on, in all weathers! It's the same whenever Newcastle play football; you can always spot the "Toon" fans as there's at least half a dozen without any tops on at all. You gotta love 'em! http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=155426235 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geordie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newcastle_upon_Tyne Don't ever call a Sunderland or a Middlesbrough fan a "Geordie" as they are liable to get very upset. They are Mackems and Smoggies respectively! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mackem http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunderland,_Tyne_and_Wear http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoggie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middlesbrough I hope you find the time to read all the above. At the moment, that's where all the snow is, the North East! Here in Cumbria erm, it's snowing! Oh, no!

Yes, I saw a guy today with shorts on. It's freezing as well, that horrible damp weather that gets into the bones. No way would I be baring my legs like that lol.

I hear ya, those of us in Texas are apt to put on a coat at 50, well, if the wind is blowing, maybe...

Hi Janey, I live in West Suseex but always has been a "Toons" fan, but going back to people not wearing coats, I cannot understand why young people do that, maybe these people who don't feel the cool must have thick skin and no blood, lol! sorry, but when I see them in the cold weather with hardley anything on, they are just asking for trouble, they can get very sick that way. Funny you should say that about thick skin, Tamara. A study is being conducted at the moment to see if notherners have thicker skin than their southern counterparts! I've been on a night out in Toon many years ago and even I had a long-sleeved top on (I'm from the north west of England) but was amazed at all the flesh on show. Makes me cold just thinking about it!

Thanks for all the links. I learned something new. In my younger days, I could have been a Geordie, but now, I'd have to be at least a Mackem. Or better yet, move to the south end of England where I hope it doesn't snow. That's why I'm in southern New Mexico! And I still don't care for soccer...to me it's boring. Give me football or rugby anyday...

Soccer is our national sport so losing the bid to host the 2018 World Cup..well, is upsetting to say the least.
