i just recently recieved a nintendo ds as a sort of Christmas gift. i say sort of because my husband got it for free at work and gave it to me last night. anyway i know nothing about these things except that they play ds and gameboy advance games. that's it. could somebody please tell me what you can do with these things? also, where can you get really cheap games (either for the gameboy advance or nintendo ds)? by the way, it is a ds lite if that helps...

There's a special cartridge available with memory card so that you can download -almost- all games you want for free. I have it and it's illegal as per the law but nobody has ever been arrested only the import of them is forbidden. That's the situation in my country. In your country things are probably different.
But of course if it's not possible you could always go for second hand games or buy from the budget rack. :)
Good luck and enjoy!!!

I've seen them starting from say 30 dollars for anr4ds cartridge with 2GB memory card. With it you can store say 20 games on it. You can always remove games and put new ones on them.
I am from Holland and got mine on the internet from a Dutch shop.

I was about to say the same thing.
I have over 700 DS games saved on my pc ready to DL anytime to my DS. The only problem now is how am I going to finish playing all of them!

You can get cheap games at gamestop or any used video games stores. Keep in mind that you can use hold gameboy games in that bottom slot. Alhtough if you do this you can't use all the features of the DS but that's how I get my basic games that don't really utilize the top screens. DS is a pretty fun little platform.

thank you for your comment. i was already aware of the fact that the bottom slot is used for gameboy advance games but thanks for mentioning it anyway. also thanks for the information on how the gaming experience is. and about big lots, that is in my price range and it is a plus that they sell only new games so that they are more likely to work. luckily for me there is a big lots close to where i live :)

I wanted to add to this, that sometimes Big Lots sells DS games for anywhere from $5- $15. They are new, unopened unplayed games so you could always check there too.

If you live in the US the best place to probably get games for a cheap price would be from Gamestop. If you go anywhere else you're looking at spending an arm and a leg to get a game thats far over priced. You really can't do much with the DS Lite as you can with the DSi. All you can do with the DS lite is play games, no other options. I'm not sure if Gamestop sells GBA (gameboy advanced) games anymore so if you are willing to buy in bulk for games I would say go with Amazon, you can some REALLY great prices for games. I'm talking like a dollar for some pretty awesome games, but due note that these games are used.

thank you for your comment. this has been very helpful. i think i might check out gamestop because i am unaware of what games are really out for ds and their price ranges. also, i think i may look at amazon like you suggested or maybe ebay for some good deals on gameboy advance games mostly (since not alot of places sell them anymore).
