When putting up the Christmas tree  

We usually put ours up after thanksgiving....probably the week after. We put the lights on first, then the garland then the decorations.

its lights the first.. for some reasons i just want the lights to glow inside..

i always put the lights on first. think you get a nicer looking decorated tree if you do that. the tree tends to look more chaotic now that my 5 year old helps. can't wait to do it this year. christmas just gets better, the older the children get. love it!

My husband always puts the lights on the Christmas tree right after we get it set up. However, he's so meticulous that it takes him 2 nights to get over 800 lights put on the tree, and I'm totally impatient and want to decorate it. This year, I think I've convinced him to go with me to pick out a tree that is pre-lit (well, it will save him two nights of putting lights on and will lower my blood pressure). It just might work for both of us.

I put the lights on first and test them to make sure they all work. Then the garland, then the ornaments. Then my cats try to knock everything off.lol.

I would put the lights on first and then work around them with the decorations.

Definetley first. Lights then garland then ornaments then tinsel.
