On my dashboard the brake alert came on again

I just got my van back from the mechanic. The brake doesnt feel any different from before they fixed it. I was driving yesterday and the break alert came on. On the dashboard in red letters the word break came on again. It did that before I had the van fixed. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong. I am thinking maybe I could call the mechanic and ask him but I really dont want to pay to have anything more fixed so I was thinking maybe I could just let it go and hope its a false alert.
