As I know, the Ramayana story only man-made, if the Mahabharata story seems real because Hindus believe the god - the god in the story.
Looks like Hanuman because it never existed until now Hindus in India still worship him.
Regarding Sri Lanka, according to the history of India was once a royal rest Alengka

Ramayana from Sanskrit, which is derived from the Ramayana Rama and Ayana meaning "Rama's Journey", is an epic story of India is composed by Valmiki (Valmiki) or Balmiki.
Another epic story Mahabharata.
Hanuman or Hanumat, also referred to as Anoman, is one of the deities of the Hindu religious beliefs, as well as the protagonist in the most famous epic Ramayana. He is a white monkey and a son Batara Bayu and Anjani, the brother of Subali and Sugriwa. According to the Book of Fiber Pedhalangan, Hanuman figures in fact it is original from the epic Ramayana, but the character development is also often appear in series Mahabharata, which will be inter-era figures. In India, revered as the patron deity Hanuman and several temples dedicated to worship him.
Kingdom of Lanka or Lanka (Sanskrit: ????; "Lanka", meaning "island") is the name of a kingdom on an island in southern India that was ruled by King Rawana in the days of Ramayana. In the current era, the kingdom was known by the name of Sri Lanka. Kingdom was fortified by a plateau between three mountain peaks known as the Mount Trikuta. The highest peak of the mountain known as Adam's peak. Capital of the Kingdom of Lanka in ancient times was burnt by Hanuman.

Mahabharata (Sanskrit: ?? ? ??? ?? ? ?? ? ?? ? ?? ? ?? ?) is an ancient literary work supposedly written by Vyasa or Vyasa Begawan from India. This book consists of eighteen books, then called Astadasaparwa (asta = 8, dasa = 10, parwa = books). However, some are convinced that this story is actually a collection of many stories that originally scattered, collected since the 4th century BC.
OK ...
of that I know this is a legend ...
This is the ancient story-teller who told me is a truth which can be trusted, where in fact this is the story imaginable historical truth and the differences of the past and present (formerly somewhat smelly mystical and magic).
possible with the human mind is a bit right now we do not accept ...
well, what about the ancient people's minds? is different ..
