Finnaly the series between India & SA came to an end with SA winning the final match by 33 runs(D/L) and thus won the series.
SA made 250 in 46 overs, but as the EXCELLENT D/L rule says India have to take 268 to win.
Pathan showed a good fight and scored 105 runs, his century goes in vain.
If some Top order Indian batsmen played well, then the result may be other.

It was Yusuf Pathan yet again who almost proved history repeats itself. He came out to bat at the number seven spot, when India were written off and were in the dumps. His hurricane innings was no less than a tsunami and threatened to blow South Africa away. He hit eight fours and as many sixes.
His 50 came off 47 balls and he reached the three-figure mark off just 68 balls – the next fifty runs coming off just 21 balls. He brought the match well under control. You are right that if some top order batsmen along with Parthiv Patel could have got going, India could still have pocketed the series. But a big heave cost from Pathan, him his wicket and India the match and the series.

No doubt that the D/L system is flawed, But Indian loss cannot be attributed to that. Team India bowled & batted spinelessly.
Many Team-Indian youngsters have taken their place in the team for granted & that is the reason for their lack of application.
This is another blinder from Yusuf. This Century in SA soil against Morkel & Steyn should give him much more credibility.
Yusuf is the only good news for India in this entire ODI series.
South Africa were the deserving winners of the series. Inida Should seriously look for some bowlers with Real Pace.
