Does anyone on mylot suffer from hives on an everyday basis, or do you know anyone that does? My sister has been suffering with this for years now. She has been to numerous doctors and know one seems to be able to help her. They have tested her for Lupus and other diseases that I can't recall at this time but everything comes back negative. It is a painful problem that she is going through and I just can't believe that it can't be diagnosed. Does anyone know what it could be?

Hiya lelin,
Seems from the little bits I have read that the real causes are hardly ever found right away and the rashes can change quickly their form and way of being too.
They reckon if you come out in an attack of Hives a really bad one to take a photo of it if you can so that they can diagnose it better. That´s not my suggestion it´s somebodies comment I have read somewhere. I have seen a full blown attack of Hives and it seems pretty tough to go through that.
The Histamine can be released into the Blood Stream for any unknown reason really. I have never had a rash like that but I did get a huge welt under the strap of my wristwatch which was dyed leather and when I got rid of the Strap it vanished as quick as it came.
Hope she gets better soon. Could it be the leather Strap on her Postal Bag? I know it sounds silly but maybe it might have a dye that could cause it. Just thought of that because of the reaction I had with the dyed leather strap on the Watch.

Her strap is never touching her skin. She lives on the eastcoast and is usually either wearing her uniform or a coat. Thanks though for the response.

Hiya lelin,
It´s just that I thought of the Watch Strap that I had that once and the effect it had on my inner wrist. Since then I have not worn one of that type at all.
Oh I see it has no contact with the skin at all. Could it be the washing Powder she is using?
Or the Washing up Liquid as they said it can come from that as well.
You know how some Clothes seem to provoke irritation if you get too hot maybe it´s that sort of thing. But from what I have read it comes from anything like that to other components of other everyday things like Food.

That is odd that they can't diagnose it. I'm sure they have given her an allergy test right? Hives are often a sign of an allergy. I'm sure that she knows that having been to so many doctors but sometimes they don't so allergy tests unless they are specialists. I hope she at least finds out what it is. I bet that's one of the worst parts.

She has had many a test for just about everything. The doctors tell her its all based on stress. I don't think she has any more stress in life then other people. It just doesn't make any type of sense to me. This has been going on for years now and it seems to be getting worse which is scaring us. Thank you for your response.

This is the result of her body reacting to something. It may be from the outside or something she eats or drinks. The best thing to do is eliminate everything except the most mild food. Then slowly bring things back into her diet. Also look aaround the home for mold, mildew, animal hair, dust. There are other things that cause an allergic reaction. I was allaergic to sunshine for many years, just 10 mins in the sun would break me out in hives. I finally out grew it. Good Luck finding the cause.

I am so sorry for your sister as a friend of mine had it and she could hardly bear the intense pain. I believe it is manifested from an allergy. But the problem is to find the allergen that is affecting her. I do hope that she is quickly helped. Is there no treatment at all? My friend had it about 30 years ago. Surely something has been done re treatment since then?

I was simply wondering if it is possible she is allergic to the laundry detergent. My boyfriend gets really bad hives if I use tide liquid detergent to wash his clothing. It was odd that when I first moved it he developed that and finally we figured it out so although I so love tide in order to prevent any mix-ups I do not purchase it any longer.
