Royal mess up

Okay so I'm sure everyone heard of it but if not Christina Aguilera totally messed up singing the star spangled banner. Its so embarrassing. I saw one of the funniest reasons of why she may have done it. First, she was trying too hard. Way too hard. She appeared to be auditioning for the part of Aretha Franklin in a biopic. She was all gesture and tremolo, like an R & B diva. Which she isn’t. & Second, those lyrics are among the most difficult things any performer ever has to sing. “O’er the ramparts we watched ...”? Why are they singing about people looking at Dodge pickup accessories? (OK, that’s over the top, but you get our point.) Francis Scott Key was not exactly William Wordsworth. In the third stanza, he rhymed “battle’s confusion” with “foul footsteps’ pollution,” for instance. We figure he was running out of ideas at that point. Hahaha. So funny!

I really don't know why people can't just sing the song simply. *sigh* It is her style to jazz everything up but I just wish for the national anthem people could calm down and just sing it in a straightforward way, as it's designed for people to be able to sing along!! Oh well, it's pretty funny and makes for good entertainment I spose! Heheh

Things like these are becoming issues even to us. In most main boxing event involving our Nation's pride Manny Pacquiao, popular local singers are asked to sing our national anthem and most of them just overdo it and end up ruining it. There was even one event where the singer skipped a stanza, and boy was that embarrassing. I didn't get to see Christina, however but it has been news since last night in my place so I believe it really was that bad. Well, I guess the we'll just have to see what happens to who the next time around and hope it would turn out so much better.

I heard that she messed it up, but i didn't get to see it. When we turned the channel to the game she was just finishing up and I wasn't really paying attention to it. I think people are being a little hard on her. I think the Superbowl is a pretty big crowd, maybe bigger than the performers are used to. Not to mention the millions/billions that are watching on tv. So maybe nerves come into play too. There are some well seasoned performers that will tell you they still get nervous. Plus it is a hard song to sing, especially if you aren't used to singing it. I bet if you polled america a huge percentage of them wouldn't know all the words to it. I think people just need someone to harass.

Yes, it's all over the news, it even reached Philippines. That must've been really embarrassing- out of all the songs to mess up.. I wonder why that happened, she was a really god singer- maybe she did try to hard.
