How much do people usually spend on wedding gifts for a close friend?

I am in her bridal party and will be bringing a guest. I'd like to give her something nice without going overboard since I'll already be spending a lot as a bridesmaid.About how much should I spend?

Well it depends upon how close i am with him/her, i can spend up to 10,000 rupees maximum.. Thanks for sharing

For me it depends on my situation. If I have the extra money, I would spend more. Currently, I don't have a job, so I don't have the extra money, so the most they would get is a card. My daughter had a baby, and I couldn't get her anything, so I do my best to help her mom out with babysitting as much as I can. I know she appreciates this just as much. What it boils down to, the more I have, the more I am willing to share. If the friend is close, I would get them something nice and definitely something I feel they could use.
