My two cats that live outside on our porch have become friends with a few of the other stray cats in our neighborhoods. Lately just about anytime I look outside there is a stray cat on our porch. I dont mind it at all. As soon as I open the door to go outside the take off. The one is nearly identical to my black cat. There is so little difference that last summer before my black cat lived outside I saw this stray cat outside and thought my cat had escaped. I was trying to get it to come to me when all the sudden I realized under the chin it had more fur then my cat. That is literally the only difference. So in the past week I've seen a black cat, tiger cat, and grey cat on my porch. Its so cute seeing them all sitting out there. I think my cats are so sweet to not fight with them and make them leave. If you have outside pets do they befriend the strays that come onto your property like mine do?

hi, Cats although domesticated still retain some of their wild instinct, that is they still love to roam. A stray cat sometimes might be another person's house pet the same way they would view your cat if it wandered in their territory. Dominant male or tom cats usually visit other cats in his territory, befriending them for the purpose of mating and breeding, dominant males mark their territory by scent on their urine similar to what lions, tigers and other big cats do in the the wild. There are seldom any fights at this scenario. Fights break out or occur in the actual process of mating when the male would show his dominance over the female. Worst fights occur when a young male would challenge and try to wrest control of the territory from the resident dominant male.
