Mishaps with the dental cleaner

Hello fellow mylotters. I just got a new dental toy, a water pik. Looks easy enough to use, and very common sense. I glanced over the instructions. I plugged the thing in. I washed out the reservoir and filled with water. I put the pic in my mouth and turned it on. Nothing. Thought it was broke. Ah, silly me, forgot that I had turned off the light switch because I used the hair dryer yesterday. So I flip the switch. Forgetting to put the pic in my mouth. Water all over my clothes that I just set in the bathroom before I showered. Turned it off, then put the pic in my mouth and turned it back on. Opened my mouth to see where my teeth were at so I could aim the thing between the teeth. Water all over the mirror this time. One of my cats, Bootsie, is sitting by the 3/4 way closed door, peering at me with a perplexed look on his face.
I continue cleaning my teeth. Forgot to spit, water filled my mouth and began dripping on the floor while I'm trying to find the gap in between my teeth. Still not learning one of the first lessons, I open my mouth to find the gaps. Realize my mistake as water bounces off my teeth onto the floor, the sink and the mirror. I take the pic out of my mouth without turning off the thing. More water everywhere. Bootsie still watching intently, apparently enjoying the show. Once more water fills my mouth and I spit, forgetting to turn the thing off. Water on the walls, mirror and floor. Turned the thing off, and grabbed the dental floss to clean my teeth.
Fellow mylotters, have you ever had an experience quite like this, with some tool you have never used before?

Not really with my dental cleaner but I have been known never to read instructions inserted in with gadgets of today and well until I get stumped it is usually a year later that I fully learn all the ins and outs of the product and by then I am ready for an upgrade.

lol! Sometimes instructions can be so confusing! I tried to put an indoor greenhouse together and could not make heads or tails of the instructions. So I just started building the thing. Had to take it apart a few times to re-do it, but I got it done. lol. Got real creative with it too. I bought a 2nd one and took the first one apart, added parts to one of them and came out with a larger greenhouse that fit my high plants.

Thanks. You know, I did not embellish the story at all. It really happened that way, it was amazing. My floor, the commode, the mirror, the hand towel by the sink, my fresh clothes all got wet, and the door as well. I tried it again last night and only forgot a couple of times to turn it off before I spit. Nailed one of the cats. They were all sitting in the hall by the door watching me. lol.

lol. I am a slow learner, but I am happy to report that I did miss the mirror this morning.
