My cat Sookie has been acting strange around her food. . .

and I can't figure out why! For the past two days, she has been hissing at, and pouncing on, her dry food pellets, knocking them out of the bowl one by one, batting them around, and refusing to eat them. She carries them one by one in her mouth to where I am sitting and drops them for me. She has also been dragging other strange stuff from our upstairs down to where I am sitting at the computer--a package of unopened fish food, my son's action figure, a sock, a plastic spoon, a hair band--you get the idea.
Now, this is the same type of dry food she has been eating (and liking). Our other younger cat eats the same food, and he has no issue with it--in his bowl, or hers. Our older cats are not supposed to eat the food, but they stole it out of her bowl anyway. I washed out the bowl completely, and put new food in it,and she acted the same way. Any thoughts?

Maybe she doesn't like her food bowl color, or her food bowl in general. If you say she's eating it out from another cat's food bowl, then there's probably something wrong wit hers?
Also, it could be possible that she doesn't like the that she doesn't like the taste of the cat food anymore.
If she continues being like this, take her to the vet. Maybe there's something wrong with her mouth or her digestive system. Maybe she swallowed something that she isn't supposed to eat, and is now causing her problems

All very good advice.
I did, however, put her "treats" in her bowl and she gobbled those down! And she's eating her canned food just fine. I think maybe she has spring fever and just wants to pounce on everything. I am going to buy another type of dry food and see if that works better, but this is the sixth or seventh type I've tried with her and I'm running out of options.

No dental/gum issues, luckily. And she'll eat her oral care dry food treats just fine! This is also the cat that won't eat at all unless someone is sitting next to her, petting her. . .maybe she's just very, very strange!

My cat did that before.. well sometimes they just get tired of the food (when they are eating the same kind of food for so long.) or maybe he really doesn t like.
what i did to my cat was just stop giving the food! I started trying new food and then he started eat normally again. I dont know what is going on with your cat and it sucks I cant help you very well!
well good luck

I will try another type of dry cat food (she also eats canned food), but when we first got her, this was the only type of dry food she would eat (we have tried several other types) so I'm kind of running out of choices! We'll see--good advice!
