Last weekend i spent completely out of everything that happened outside Volvo ice arena in Rihga where international Riga Cup 2011 was held. it is one of biggest of that kind i think over Europe since it have 127 participant teams this year from many, many European countries. Tournament is played in different age classes - U-10, U-11, U-12, U-13, U-14, U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-18. What surprised me the most was that there are more ice hockey teams from Finland (Suomi) than from Latvia as homecountry of tournament.
My son team JLSS U-10 played in U-10 age tournament against 8 teams, two of them from Finland. Well, i must say i am very proud of him. I know they could play better than they did this time, but still games where great and they got nice experience while playing against teams from Finland.
here is a little video from few of my son team games in Riga Cup 2011 tournament: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_tHNCSxWYk
