It was a long holiday here in our country. Holy week is a long vacation to almost everyone in the country.
Featured in a television show are the places where the celebrities have their break away, they half of the population of the city are in BORACAY (a great island in our country known to be one of the best tourist destination in our country), and a lot of well known people and celebrities are in different tourist destinations. They seem to have enjoyed the holidays to the fullest with all the smiles in their faces on the interviews.
Amidst all the vacations, refreshments and enjoyments, let us not miss the point. We celebrate the holy week to remember and rejoice in JESUS resurrection, it's the most important point here. To rejoice that HE resurrected, and left the tomb empty. HE conquered the grave and proved that HE is a GOD who died for our sins and resurrected to manifest our life after death. This is the perfect moment to thank HIM for the salvation that He gave us.
I hope everyone who enjoyed the vacation and holiday activities won't miss the point.

Unfortunately, the Holy week coincided with summer so there's no wonder people all go to the most popular beaches in the country. Next month the rainy season, right? and first half of the month students were at school hunting teachers for their clearance or celebrating graduation. I don't know if you're aware of this or not but there are many who does the opposite beach-goers do, around midnight a few days ago at the highway a guy was bearing the cross only lit by our vehicle's headlights. As we continue our trip, by sunrise there was another man carrying the cross. The media's power definitely made you think that all people were 'missing the point' don't you.

Oh well yeah. That's why I said, I hope everyone who ENJOYED the vacation and holidays didn't miss the point. Though I am also aware of the penitentiary activities of people across the country (also televised). Because faith and salvation is individual.

Our school president who is a priest, reminded us last Wednesday, that being a Christian or a Catholic, it is improper to go to the beach or in other entertainment places. That's why this is called HOLY WEEK, because it is the holiest among other days. I strongly agree with him. We cannot meditate, reflect the lives of our savior in the beach who is full of people whose purpose is to enjoy. Yes, our Lord wants us to be happy, wants us to enjoy life but there are other time for this, not within HOLY WEEK. Can we celebrate the Last Supper, where the Holy Eucharist was instituted, reflect the seven last words, do stations of the cross, visit 7 Churches, experience the blessing of fire and water during Easter vigil in the beach? I don't think so. It is written in the Bible Eccl 3: Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses: example: the time for silence and the time for talk... Holy Week is the time for God, not for worldly enjoyment. There is a time for this but not during Holy Week.
