Which is better: Be yourself or be "what other people want"?

Many people say "Be your self!"
But, in fact every person is almost always "demanding" something from someone else. Who consciously or unconsciously he had been "harass" the other person.
So, my question:
"Be your self!" really how?
Many say something to suit yourself, and you are most comfortable doing. But in fact many instances where we can not feel comfortable with our nature, with various critics dropped from others who ask us to be "not ourselves"
Or also, when we've tried to really be who we are, consider the surroundings .. trying to make other people uncomfortable. But, from what we do turns out other people expect something "more" something "perfect" without the slightest deficiency. And if we have only one deficiency compared to a lot of things we had done to other people, the views of the person to be "foreign" to "bad" for us. And he can easily forget what we have done for him in the past?
Then, must be like if every person should have? when being yourself was wrong. while being "what they want other people" also always required? so that they become something that is not convenient for us?

Very good post!
I try to be myself. I just cannot pretend. I cannot be what am not. I know that am not perfect and in fact no one can be. I wish others should 'accept' as I really am. We can disguise ourselves but only temporarily.

Yeah, you are right that our 'identity' should remain intact and no one should impose upon us anything.
Thanks for appreciating my comments.

Hi myfriend,
Yes, you're right, everything that is imposed is not good for us. It is best to be ourselves fully so that others accept us as it is. It is in fact an environment should force us to adapt, but I think it does not mean we have to let go of our identity as a totality.
good comment my friend

if I'm still better to be yourself it's just that we can still adjust to the environment, what harm we change our attitude a little if it's not good, people will also prefer the way we are what it is than made ??up

ok, there is a truth in your statement, did everything from ourselves should be adapted to the environment. But that does not mean you have to take the negatives from that environment. Remember with your identity, do not push, I mean all there should be a limit so that you do not drift slowly and will eventually make your identity apart and just disappear.
Nice day

Be yourself. Why would you pretend to be someone else. How long can one put up with that?
It is better that people know you as you are - and when there are things about you (especially the negative ones) it should just be changed (gradually).
I always believed that we should accept ourselves but we should of course not stop and continue to become better people, become better at work, become better in our relationships.

hi,
correct, its better to be you're self than trying to be of what other people want, its really hard to be just because what people wanted to be.but still there are people who hide there real personality and i feel so sad to them.

I am always myself. I care what other people think about me, but i won't change how i act just to make someone else comfortable. we act differently around different people however. like im totally different around my kids as i am around friends for example. be yourself!

I think it's very important for us to totally be ourselves and if somebody else expects something that we're not from us, they would be better off leaving us alone and seeking out someone different who naturally is what they want them to be.
