It the annual commemoration of the importance of workers in this country. Since every country is run by its citizens as workers, it is a tribute to the public who are striving to make best of life and hope for the future.
There will be parades, speeches about sacrifice, determination, and perseverance. On the other hand, there are also demonstrations and protests for the still unfulfilled dreams and demands from the government who, in all sense and matters, should be the foremost protector of workers.
What is a worker and what does a worker do? Are workers define by conventional jobs or people who try to earn by unconventional means? Are criminals also workers?(asked by my niece) and what does labor day stand for in this country in this day and age when technology can probably replace the people themselves?
Please share your thoughts about this labor and feel free to answer any of those questions (most especially about the criminals. I have to say I was dumbstruck.)

Partly yes and partly no. It is a national holiday (therefore no work and no school, if there is a summer school program) to commemorate workers and a chance to air their grievances (like a one-in-a-day protest) usually to the government. Their grievances usually consists of burning effigies and shouting about issues about labor (of course) and whatever political scandal we are in . Labor day is also a chance to push the government and the business sector to raise the most hot potato issue which is the wage hike.

Hello my friend,
Question of your niece is very interested which says "Is criminals are workers?" So in my opinion, I will define first worker which means anyone or whoever giving his/her strength in a certain task is a worker. Also everyone who earning money, food and giving services are workers. Lastly who are giving effort from themselves considered workers. Way back to our question criminals giving their strength, effort, earning money, food, giving services - if our answers are YES, criminals are workers... LOL see you around
