What A Week

It all began last Thursday. A dear friend came in, came up to me, grabbed me and hugged me tight, then said she needed a hug. I knew something was wrong, but she held on for a bit and when she released me I saw dog hair on her shirt. She owns one but as it turns out, it wasn't hers. It was one that her neighbors pit bulls had attacked, a little pug. Her neighbors have one of those no fence electric fences. Getting on my soapbox for a second here.....
Dogs that are on chains, and those with the no fence electric fence, please hear this. It may keep your dog contained but it does not prevent other dogs or children or anything from entering and even causing harm to your pet! A large husky was once brought into the local vet, ripped apart. The husky had been on a chain and unable to get away from the dog that came into the yard and attacked it.
Back to the story.....
The pit bull that attacked the pug had itself been attacked when it was young. So don't go thinking all pit bulls are aggressive. I have 3 and they get along well with my other dogs and though Zen and Diesel have escaped from the yard before they did not attack anyone or anything. Matter of fact, when my uncle came down from his house behind us walking with his grand kids and his long hair dachshund and Diesel crawled out from under the fence, laid down right next to them.
Anyhow, there was a beagle that was with the pug. The beagle got attacked too, but ran away and my friend could not find it. Turns out, there were a pair of dogs matching their description that we often saw running about our neighborhood, about 5 to 10 minutes away. Long story short, it ends up being my neighbors dog. Now, I didn't know this neighbor so when they asked me to take them to my friends home, whom wasn't home at the time by the way, I wouldn't do it. Plus something was up that wasn't quite right anyhow. First of all, they didn't say squat when we told them the beagle was hurt. Turns out the beagle made it home but you would think they would mention that. Plus, a cousin of theirs told my friend that they let the dogs run loose all the time, which we had seen along with a deputy and police officer next to my house, having seen. And that they kept the dog in a single room and didn't really care about it or pay attention to it. The son didn't quite act right when we mentioned the issue in the first place.
When the dad came by to try to get us to tell him where the dog was he threatened calling the police. My husband told him that wouldn't be the smartest idea. And it would not have been since I had the two witnesses I'd mentioned.
Anyhow, somehow they got my friends name and address and went there. It was their dog. She saw the dog was over joyed to see them, and gave them the dog and all meds. The owners fell apart seeing the damage that had been done to the poor thing, it was bad. Turns out that someone that knew both my friend and the owners brought things full circle.
Next on the agenda, during this mess, our ac went out. While replacing it we dealt with them, I got scratched accidentally by my cat across my wrist with her hind claws. I've been doctoring it. It still looks pretty nasty though.
The help has been out. Bless his heart, 3 kidney stones he has passed. My husband is having a hard time because he is hurting, chipped his elbow, making it hard to work. I need to see the chiropractor myself, my shoulder is fried!
Then, last night, here comes a storm. We needed the rain. But we woke when the house shook and there was a loud bang. The power went out, the dog was freaking out. We got up, having to relieve ourselves and the water turned brown. We had to run the water for a bit to clear it up. Part of the power was still on? So my husband checked the breakers and got everything back on, so we thought. We got up this morning and I went to turn on the television to check the forecast. Nothing. I went to the living room and tried that tv. Nothing. I checked the computer and everything else and they were fine. Now, since the deductible is the same as what it would cost to replace them there is no point going there.
We are both tired and looking forward to the weekend in hopes of some down time. I'm still here, but I've been a bit busy. Hope everyone else is having a good week.
