Great father's day party

We decided to not go to the restaurant for father's day. We had a BBQ at dad's. It was great and it felt like when we were kids sharing a meal at home.
The food was great and I had made a special dessert of cherry cupcakes. The only problem was even before we had finished eating, one of my aunt showed up at the same time as a friend of the family.
We like to sit at the table after a meal and talk but we couldnt to that because we had visitors there.
Dad seemed very happy with all the gifts and the fact that we were all reunited together.
Did you have a nice father's day? Do you enjoy getting together with your family on special occasions?

that's nice when everyone in the family gathers during special occasions. cherry cupcakes sound yummy.
fathers' day celebration was also the day we celebrated my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. all my siblings were all there as well as spouses and 11 of the 14 kids (the 3 oldest kids were in the south of the country and we got connected thru skype during the celeb). everyone had a grand time, with some relatives and friends. even my ex-bf was able to attend.
as much as we can, we try to celebrate special occasions with the entire family even if we live in different parts of the country. we try to make schedules work. and we try to foster a close relationship with the younger generations so that we remain a close-knit family.
have a great day!

I dont want to brag about it but the cherry cupcakes were simply delicious!!
Heres the link if you want to try and make it:

I made mine into cupcakes and adjusted the cooking time.
Sounds like you also have a great time and all get together. Using Skype was a great idea so that it was as if they were there with you.
I too think its important to keep a close relationship for the younger generations.
Wow, 50th wedding anniversary calls for a grand celebration then. Im sure your parents were so happy to have all of you there with them. Congratulations to your parents.
Thanks for sharing and hope you'll try the cherry cake....I know you'll love it.

thanks. and yes, 50 years is something. sometimes we wondered, if our parents would have stayed married had divorce been an option in my country. it has been a family joke for a number of years now. because honestly, father is hard to live with.
baking is a skill and talent that i'm still in the process of harnessing. lol and it is something that must be done with precision (timing and amount of ingredients). i will try that cherry cupcakes. thanks for the link.

i have so far only done a nutty carrot cake (my ultimate favorite, filled with walnuts, macadamia, almond flakes and cashew bits) and moist chocolate cake under the tutelage of someone so passionate in baking. but it seems so long ago back when i had a vacation in cambodia. she is now in the US so the teaching was kinda put on hold. hehe
it's nice when couples stay together for the long haul... like your parents had.
have a great day!

my dad has gone home to his hometown so were not able to celebrate fathers day with him. but i dont miss him that much because were not that close. sorry to tell u but hes such a pain in my azz and always been a threat to my ego. but we went to a resort though with some friends and had swimming so that day was a little bit fun.

Im sorry you dont get along with your dad but if he's a threat to your ego, it might be as well if you're not together then.
Sounds like you managed to have a very nice day with your friends. Good for you!

Wow your barbeque sounds like it was so much fun. Anytime family gets together for barbeque it is always a very good time. I did not go anywhere yesterday nor have any gatherings. I did though make a really great early dinner for my boyfriend as he had rehearsals the entire evening.
Though his daughter is in England in lieu of fathers day for him I made him a nice slow cooked roasted pork with my Puerto Rican Spanish Rice. It is only he and I at home so we had lots to eat. I know he is happy because I don't cook as much as before because it is only he and I at home now.
I do not have a father to celebrate for, but am really glad you and your family celebrated a lovely day with yours.

It's good you spend time with your father on that special day. I envy you. I can't go to my father's place so i just send him a message.
