A momentary upswing in mood for some external factor is a pleasure, while a feeling of contentment from within is happiness. Happiness includes pleasure but pleasure may not lead to happiness. One's material possessions may buy pleasures for him/her but not the happiness. On the contrary, material possessions bring in anxieties of various kinds robbing off the person of happiness, if he/she has any.
Health is the greatest ingredient of happiness, while discipline and morality are essential for it. Freedom and its use in creative endeavors enhance happiness.

I'm a smoker but I find a way to minimize it. I've been cutting one stick a day and see if it works for me. I find that it shortens my breath span, not to mention my endurance. I get tired faster than usual. Those are some reasons why I'm cutting down on it. These were even times when I just smoked whenever I feel like it. It'll be hard, no doubt, but I'm fixed on totally quitting.

Though, your comment is not relevant to the discussion, still it is worth welcoming and commenting on. Quitting smoking gradually, like one stick a day, will not work. It does not eliminate demand of your body for nicotine. What you need to do is to quit in one stroke with a firm determination, and have something to substitute for the sticks, like putting a clove, or any other spice you like, in your mouth to divert your urge for a stick. However, if you are firm on your determination and having firm control on yourself, you need not to have any substitute. Go for it with full strength of your mind supported by your intellect. Since, you are experiencing evil effects of smoking, you need to do it soon.

Oh, I thought we were talking about momentary happiness here. Anyway, yep it won't work quitting in one stroke. I've done it several times. Even experts will advice you to quit gradually. If you ask smokers, they'll tell you the same thing coz I've asked a lot who were successful on quitting. Thanks for the effort, though.
